Creating a Template

Learn how to create a new Template in Clerkal

If you would like a template quickly, please visit the Clerkal Libraryarrow-up-right to download a range of pre-built Templates.

1. Create a new template

To create a new template, click on the 'New' button in the left sidebar of your Templates page.

2. Name and Shortcut

Give your Template a name in its top bar.

You can also give it a shortcut. Shortcuts can be used to insert existing Templates into your notes in the Clinical Note editor (read more about Shortcuts here).

3. Adding content

Now you can start adding content to your Template by typing the text you want to include. If you have an existing template that you would like to migrate into Clerkal, you can copy and paste its text into the editor.

To make certain lines optional (clickable), uncheck the checkbox at the start of those lines. Learn more about Clickable Lines here.

Be sure to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the right-hand corner of the top bar.

4. Inserting elements

Use the toolbar at the top of the page or the slash menu to add elements, such as buttons and inputs, into your Template. Learn more about adding elements to a Template

Undo and Redo

To undo or redo changes, click the Undo and Redo buttons in the editor's toolbar. Alternatively, use these hotkeys:

  • Ctrl (or ⌘ on Mac) + Z — Undo

  • Ctrl (or ⌘ on Mac) + Shift + Z — Redo
