Write a clinical note from a Template
Learn how to create and write clinical notes using a Clerkal template.
Start writing your first clinical note with Clerkal following the 3 easy to follow steps below!
1. Choose a Template
To get started, Select a template for your treatment from the sidebar:

If you don't have any templates yet, you can download one from Clerkal's Library
Once selected, the Template will appear. Click the 'Use' button in the top right corner to open it in the Clinical Note editor.

2. Complete the Clinical Note
Now that you have the Template open in the Clinical Note editor, you can start completing it. Select the options in elements, such as button options, that are relevant to the appointment and patient.

Any grey lines of text means that it is inactive, and its content will not form part of your final generated clinical note. To include it (i.e. activate it), simply click on the grey text, which will turn it black.

Your generated clinical note will appear on the right side of the screen.

Buttons turn purple when clicked, indicating they have been selected and included in your output note. If you click on this purple text, you will be able to see the buttons options to make changes if you need to.

Quick tips for filling templates:
Right-click element options (e.g. buttons) to negatively select their text (e.g. this will turn the option 'temperature' into 'no temperature').
Hold Ctrl or ⌘ to select multiple options in a button.
You can type anywhere to edit the note.
3. Copy the note into your Patient Management Software
Once you have finished filling out your template, click on the 'Copy' button in the bottom right corner of the Preview panel. This will copy the generated clinical note to your clipboard. You can now paste it into your software using Ctrl+V or ⌘+V.

If you are not ready to complete your clinical note yet, you can save the generated information as a Draft, and come back to it later in your Drafts section.
